Vitalia Westlake Discovers the Heart of the Community During National Assisted Living Week

National Assisted Living Week is a special time when assisted living communities come alive with celebrations that bring residents together. It’s a chance to share stories, make memories, and enjoy events that show the strong bond among residents, caregivers, and families. This year, the theme is Season of Reflection. We love to celebrate working in senior living, helping to end the stigma of boring, dark, quiet senior living communities.

At Vitalia Westlake, we are honoring residents’ lives and experiences by hosting one special event each day, celebrating each decade from the 1940s through the 1980s, starting with a Tea Party and ending with a fabulous 80s themed Happy Hour that Friday! As the Resident Services Director, I am most excited to see my fellow department heads’ contributions to the events.

Taking the time to celebrate National Assisted Living Week is important. To me, Season of Reflection means celebrating the decades our older adults lived through and the important pop culture, fashion, and memories made during those times.

It’s not only a time to celebrate, but also an opportunity to appreciate the staff and volunteers who make assisted living communities what they are today! This week highlights the power of connections, memories, and the spirit of togetherness that makes every resident feel at home.
