2. Named in honor of the Dover Township. Originally settled on October 10, 1810, this township was nostalgically named for the White Cliffs of Dover. In the early 20th century, it was reformed as Dover Village, a name it held until it finally claimed its current title of Westlake in 1940. The journey was a long one, full of twists and turns and adventures, but here at Dover, “there’ll be love and laughter, and peace ever after … just you wait and see.”
