VITALIA Senior Residences at Westlake Thanks and Celebrates Its Culinary Team

Fun Fact: The hat that chefs wear is called a Toque Blanche, which means white hat in French. It is believed that the height of the hat symbolizes the seniority and rank of the chef in the kitchen and the folds in the hat express the qualification of the chef.

Culinary art is the mastery of preparing, cooking, and presenting food. Culinarians, or Chefs, are experts in this field and can be found in hotels and restaurants around the world. The depth of their talent extends far beyond the kitchen. Chefs also have a profound understanding of design, food science, nutrition, and diet.

Culinarians Day, held annually on July 25th, is a day to thank and celebrate the people who impact our experience with food in such meaningful ways. Worldwide, this day is a time to appreciate the art of cooking and is often commemorated with events and competitions. At Vitalia Senior Residences at Westlake, we will be honoring our amazing Culinary Team!

Westlake’s Culinary Team holds various backgrounds that have been very beneficial to our community. Several team members have brought their skills and knowledge from fine dining or other senior communities. Many of them have been involved in different areas of the culinary field, but they also hold a lot of common interests, which allows them to work as a cohesive team.

When not working the team members participate in many hobbies such as hiking, kayaking, golfing, and firearm sports. They also like to get together for a good pool party. A famous person they all agree they would like to prepare a meal for is Guy Fieri. His love for food and desire to bring joy to others mirrors what the Westlake culinary team works hard to do.

The signature sweet our Culinary Team prepares for our community is Meyers Rum Bread Pudding. It is all homemade and the residents love it. This sweet is always requested by residents, especially when they have guests. The team really enjoys preparing for picnics and happy hours. It gives them the chance to showcase their talents and prepare various foods in which they specialize.

Our Culinary Team is very hands-on with the residents. They are dedicated to making residents feel at home. They always go above and beyond- providing support to one another, in and out of the restaurant. We could not do what we do at Dover without this hardworking team!
