Vitalia Senior Residences at Westlake Spreads the Word of the Year

Every year Arrow’s personal and professional development coach, Michael Buckley, asks everyone to pick a “Word of the Year.” The goal is to look inward and consider what we each need more of and what might improve our lives. Sometimes we need more focus or clarity. Sometimes we need more compassion. Sometimes we just need more fun!

Picking a word for both me and my community is a commitment to doing work on yourself and the “we” and “us” work we want to do as a community.

Looking back, Vitalia Westlake had a great 2022! We were able to really develop and grow our department head team and head into 2023 with consistent and seasoned department heads in all areas. We achieved many occupancy goals in 2022 as well as developed greater stabilization in our wellness and culinary departments throughout the year.

Now, looking forward to 2023, what Vitalia Senior Residences at Westlake needs is consistency. As our department head team becomes stable toward the end of 2022, we look to spread that theme of consistency throughout all areas of our community. We look to develop and maintain consistency in our processes, operations, accountability, and alignment to better serve our residents, employees, families, and entire community!

Consistency will be a word we use to drive discussions, behavior, and review at daily meetings and department heads as a driver to keep us on track and aligned in our mission to develop consistency in all phases of our community in 2023.

My personal word for 2023 is consumption. I aim to be disciplined in what I consume in my life. That involves what I am consuming through books, podcasts, and TV shows. Also, what I consume health wise regarding food, and I consume my free time by reducing or limiting cell phone use and social media.

What is YOUR WORD? I hope you will pick one too. What does your life need a little more of in 2023? What does “future you” thank you for working on now? Our words are meant to inspire us. If it is not inspiring, it’s not the right word.
