Vitalia Senior Residences at Westlake Recognizes National Assisted Living Week

Established by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) in 1995, National Assisted Living Week® recognizes the role of assisted living in America while providing a unique opportunity for residents, their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and the surrounding communities to recognize the role of assisted living in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities. The annual observance encourages assisted living communities around the country to celebrate the individuals they serve while simultaneously educating members of the public about what assisted living truly looks like.

This year, VITALIA Senior Residences® at Westlake is celebrating the 2022 theme of “joyful moments” from September 11^th to September 17^th by recognizing how each department plays a role in creating joy for our residents and staff members.

​​​​​​​​​​​Being a leader of a senior living community, to me, means that I am entrusted to first and foremost take care of our community’s loved ones and enrich their lives. I see senior living as an opportunity for our residents to enjoy the finer things in this phase of their life and it is my responsibility to make their experience with us the very best that it can be. Leading our community is a privilege as it allows me to not only directly impact the lives of our seniors, but also lead and empower a group of special individuals that have the same focus as well.

I believe that our team creates joyful moments in our community by engaging with our residents throughout the day in an intimate way, focusing on relationship building and getting to know their truest self. Our community loves to have fun and celebrate our residents and staff through exciting events and happy hours.

Vi Fields, one of our original residents at VITALIA® – Westlake, says there are several things that give her joy living here. She especially enjoys socializing with other residents at the restaurant around a nice meal. Vi relishes getting to know her fellow residents as well as helping new ones transition to the community.

Vi’s favorite Westlake memory, so far, is when her family and loved one delight in a nice Happy Hour and performer that leads right into enjoying a pleasant meal together on Friday evenings.

We plan to make National Assisted Living Week special at VITALIA® – Westlake through celebrating our community, highlighting both residents and staff and their tremendous impact on our community. We will plan to host special events and programs throughout the week.
