Knowledge is key to understanding and managing dementia. While the complexities of the condition can be overwhelming, education empowers caregivers and families to provide compassionate care, foster meaningful connections, and promote dignity. At Vitalia Westlake, we prioritize education to transform how we care, engage, and advocate within our community.
Education and support are essential in dementia care. By understanding the symptoms, progression, and behavioral changes associated with dementia, caregivers gain the tools to promote dignity and independence. Support networks further enhance this process, reducing caregiver stress and fostering inclusivity while improving the quality of life for individuals living with dementia.
Arrow Senior Living offers a variety of comprehensive resources to support individuals with dementia and their families. These include our Virtual Dementia Support Group, led by Licensed Clinical Social Worker Sandy McGatha, held every Tuesday and the third Tuesday evening of each month. We also host monthly virtual education sessions led by the Regional Memory Care Team and in-person presentations facilitated by Memory Care Directors. For additional insights, Arrow’s award-winning Thoughtful Connections: A Memory Care Podcast explores a wide range of dementia-related topics.
Participating in education and support groups provides numerous benefits. These resources offer practical caregiving strategies, emotional support, and opportunities to connect with others on similar journeys. By sharing experiences, caregivers can reduce feelings of isolation, build resilience, and alleviate stress, ultimately ensuring more confident and informed care.
The more we learn, the better prepared we are to provide empathetic, person-centered care. We encourage you to join our education sessions, listen to Thoughtful Connections: A Memory Care Podcast, and participate in our virtual Dementia Support Group. Together, we can foster understanding, encourage dialogue, and advocate for enhanced resources for those impacted by dementia.
